Why I Started SoCal Aircraft Detailing
I think planes are awesome. I live near Joint Forces Training Base Los Alamitos, so I see them overhead every day, from light jets to C-130 military transports. Watching them, I knew I wanted to be part of the aviation community and do my part to protect these machines, inside and out.
I came to aircraft with a background in car detailing, but I quickly learned that an aircraft is a different job entirely. I studied the right products and methods for aircraft paint, rubber and acrylic, and which areas need extra care when you work around them. I also learned that a clean, smooth exterior does more than look good: it can help reduce skin friction drag.
Here's something you might not expect: I used to be afraid of flying. Then a coworker who's a pilot took me up in a Cessna 152, and that fear was gone by the time we landed. He showed me how much care goes into every preflight, and that stuck with me.
I want to put the same level of care into every detail that a pilot puts into every preflight.
